Welcome

When it comes to true Italian cuisine, few restaurants rival this rustic, yet stylish, veteran. Vivo opened its doors almost two decades ago, triggering a culinary landslide in the Randolph Street market district, the impact of which is still being felt today.

the chef
Executive Chef, Vicente Duran, has been a part of Vivo since day one. Vicente believes that the best Italian food is straightforward and true to its roots. There are no tricks here at Vivo, just honest-to-goodness Italian food served in a chic setting.

the environment
The room is absolutely amazing with stacks of wine bottles making an elegant twist to the exposed brick walls and rustic wood floors. Exposed beams, soft lighting, and whimsical floral arrangements take the edge off the enormous amount of business diners that frequent Vivo. Vivo is the number one place to take that someone special. The tables along the wall of wine are sought after, but it would be a tragedy to Vivo if we did not mention the table in the converted elevator shaft. The spot where Michael Jordan, Oprah, and practically everyone that makes a reservation wants to sit, is perched above the rest of the dining room with its own private velvet curtains.

Here’s a fabulous article Barbara Keer wrote after her experience at VIVO: http://www.chicago-splash.com/publish/FoodAndBeverage/cat_index_chicago_food/vivo-restaurant-review.php

"Wanted to let you know how impressed I was with the restaurant. Absolutely loved the meal! Our waiter was wonderful and the event space on the second floor is gorgeous…We had the housemade buratta cheese plate with pears/walnuts and calamari to start. And then we split a steak with potatoes and small side of the gnocchi with truffle cream sauce and bread crumbs. Was literally to die for!"
